Scavengers will close its servers in December
Improbable Worlds Limited announces that the Scavengers online servers will close on December 16 due to a decrease in the active players community.
Scavengers the free-to-play multiplayer shooter that debuted on PC last year and was set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year, will shut down its servers for good in December. Improbable Worlds Limited has revealed in a publication on the video game website that it will stop its servers on December 16, 2022 because they have detected a significant decline in the active player base.
“Although we explored many options to reinvigorate the server population while the game is in early access, it became clear that continuing development and live service was untenable. We are all proud of what we have achieved, and we are grateful to all the players who took the time to play, even if only for a short time.
Scavengers began development at the offices of Midwinter Entertainment, a team made up of some of the best talent to work on the Halo series. However, early last year Improbable World Limited sold the studio to Behavior Interactive to focus on the metaverse; at the same time the console versions were also canceled and it was announced that a small team from the company would focus on supporting and maintaining the game’s servers.
Scavengers tries to carve out a niche in the congested world of battle royale. The team make it clear that it is a game that must be built by the community. Since launch and in early access they have added content every month and have made weekly adjustments.
