PRESS RELEASE
Today Riot Games has released a new Dev Diary related to Project L, fighting game under development, with a video of more than 6 minutes that shows many news on the gameplay. The Dev Diary is presented by Tom Cannon, Executive Producer, and Shaun Rivera, Game Director & Gameplay Design Lead of the game.
Gameplay Insight: Project L’s gameplay is fast, dynamic, and flexible. Movements are fluid and varied, offensive moves use “big buttons” (i.e. simple moves with great impact) and skills have clear defensive counters.
Tag system preview: The main systems, simple to learn but difficult to perfect, are intertwined with some features that support the gameplay of Project L. The three systems highlighted (all names are WIP and not final) are:
“Assist Actions” (name not final): The moves that the support champion can make from off the screen. Each champion has two, and some can be charged for a “charged assist”.
“Handshake Tag” (name not final): If both champions are on-screen at the same time, you can instantly switch between them to extend combos or get a low health champion to safety.
“Dynamic Save” (name not final): Project L’s “combo-breaker”. Dynamic save allows you to interrupt a combo and push your opponent away, but if you are too predictable it can be adequately countered.
There are many more details yet to be revealed about the gameplay of Project L, many of which are already shown but not covered in the video.
Additionally : An update on a new champion, Illaoi, is shown at the beginning of the video. Also, a new set is shown, in Ionia.
Finally, Tom Cannon, our Executive Producer, would like to encourage members of the Fighting Game Community (FGC) to share links to upcoming events, programs, and activities they want the wider community to know about to help new players find a local scene, with the promise of more information on the game coming in 2023.
