PlayStation helped with the development of The Callisto Protocol
Sony has helped the development of The Callisto Protocol with about 150 workers from PlayStation Studios Visual Arts.
Both the final stretch of 2022 and the first months of 2023 aim to be truly terrifying . Survival horror is enjoying solid health, and it looks like The Callisto Protocol will contribute quite a bit of gore to it. Already a couple of months ago, Striking Distance Studios announced that development had ended , but everything indicates that PlayStation has also helped with the project.
PlayStation has agreed to contribute around 150 workers to help with the development of The Callisto Protocol. In a screenshot of the final credits of the game you can see the name of all the employees involved in the title. They all come from PlayStation Studios Visual Arts.
PlayStation usually supports the creation of third-party games by contributing their motion capture studios . All this would have helped some important aspects like audio and cinematics. Apparently, Sony has the commercialization rights of The Callisto Protocol, so PlayStation will have received financial compensation for said work.
Glenn Schofield regrets the crunch
Several weeks ago, the director of The Callisto Protocol boasted of having crunched his squad. Something that was confirmed by some workers, but even so the manager learned his lesson and recognized his mistake : “I messed up and we worked more than we should. We are a small team and we behaved very well throughout the development. The reaction on social media was educational and I hope it’s a catalyst for change in general. I can tell you this, I’m going to make sure that doesn’t happen on our next project or any future projects,” the Dead Space creator said.
It is true that The Callisto Protoco gives off vibes of being a substitute for Dead Space, which is not a problem because part of the development team worked on that title.
