Outriders creators developing a new futuristic RPG for PlayStation
People Can Fly, authors of Gears of War: Judgment and Bulletstorm, would be the development studio in charge of working on the new PlayStation sci-fi shooter.
On January 9, we have heard about an important leak related to a new third-person science fiction shooter with RPG touches that XDev, PlayStation’s external development support team, would be producing. At that time, some possible details were revealed, such as that the unknown team that is in charge of its development is working with the tools offered by the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine . However, today it has been reported that People Can Fly, creators of Outriders, would be the development studio that would be working on this yet unannounced project.
In the original news we attached a short video belonging to a version in development and, therefore, clearly unfinished, which a priori did not give clues about which company was developing the game. Despite this, a ResetEra user has discovered a detail that went unnoticed and that could have almost certainly revealed that, as we have already mentioned, People Can Fly would be behind the project.
The code name of the project would be RED
If you look closely, in the lower right corner of the attached video you can read the word “RED” in the lower right corner. This detail is important since in 2021 the developer of the aforementioned Outriders or other titles such as Bulletstorm or Gears of War: Judgment confirmed that it was working on a project whose code name was “RED” and that, at that time, it was still in a conceptual phase .
Given that the People Can Fly team is no stranger to third-person shooters set in a sci-fi universe and this new PlayStation title has every chance of following the same line, we could almost certainly say that it is the study that is working on the title. Of course, we cannot confirm anything until an official announcement is made.
