God of War: Ragnarok sold 5.1 million units in the first week
The release of God of War: Ragnarok is Sony’s best first-party debut in its history. It has also broken sales records in the God of War saga.
Today marks two weeks of the release of God of War: Ragnarok on PS5 and PS4, so there are already official sales data around the world. Since its premiere we have known figures from specific markets such as the United Kingdom or Japan, but now it has been PlayStation itself that has published a summary of the commercial performance of the latest Kratos and Atreus game during its first week.
As we can read in the tweet published on the company’s official account, the sequel to God of War (2018) has managed to sell a total of 5.1 million units worldwide. This is not the only surprising figure that PlayStation highlights: they also emphasize that it is Sony’s first-party that has sold the fastest at its launch, the best data in the company’s history, and also ensures that the new Santa Monica Studio ‘s game has managed to break a record in the God of War saga in number of sales in its opening week.
