Dune: Awakening, Funcom’s MMO, presents first gameplay

Dune: Awakening this open world survival title with the Dune license will arrive in 2023 on consoles and PC, and was one of the titles shown at The Game Awards 2022.
Funcom has unveiled the first pre-alpha footage of Dune: Awakening, its ambitious open-world survival MMO , at The Game Awards 2022. Inspired by the sci-fi masterpiece Dune written by Frank Herbert and the latest Legendary Entertainment film adaptation directed by Denis Villeneuve, Dune: Awakening, it invites us to discover the vastness of Arrakis with the new trailer.
Funcom, known for Conan Exiles, has put its experience to work by mixing features of open-world survival games and MMOs in the Dune setting. We will fight to survive the countless dangers of Arrakis together with thousands of players. “Discover your role and explore your identity as you experience an epic personal journey, from finding water and building storm shelters, to controlling the spice trade in the upper echelons of the planet,” says the studio.
The spice is the main reason for war and a symbol of power . Wherever the spice appears, the players will be. Combat will range from quick skirmishes to massive battles, where infantry, ground vehicles and ornithopters will play key roles.
