Don’t count on DLC for God of War: Ragnarok

Read Time:1 Minute, 40 Second

Eric Williams, director of God of War: Ragnarok, believes that the game is already big enough to need an expansion: “I wouldn’t count on it,” he said in an interview.

Now that God of War: Ragnarok has been available for some time, it seems that it is time to wonder about the future of the Kratos saga. Santa Monica Studio recently acknowledged, via Cory Barlog (director of the previous God of War), that they are working on “a lot of different things”. However, among all those projects it seems that there is nothing related to expanding the Ragnarok plot with a new additional chapter.

This has been dropped by Eric Williams, game director, in an interview on the Kinda Funny Games podcast. During his participation in a spoilercast (a special program in which the game’s plot is openly discussed), Williams has almost completely ruled out the possibility of seeing a God of War: Ragnarok DLC

“I don’t know, man, it’s a big game. I think we put everything we had into it, so I wouldn’t count on it .”

Not so surprising statement

The truth is that the history of Santa Monica Studio did not invite us to think about possible DLC for God of War: Ragnarok ; in fact, the previous installment of the saga did not have an additional chapter but rather waited for this sequel to continue with the plot of the game. What’s more, before the release of Ragnarok we already knew that this game was going to work as the conclusion of Kratos’ Nordic saga, something that caused its size to grow more than expected.

God of War: Ragnarok is available exclusively for PS5 and PS4. It is an entire masterpiece that delights us from start to finish with a story, a narrative and unforgettable characters, more fun and brutal combat than ever, spectacular bosses, intense, varied development and full of surprises, some very interesting and well-cared secondary content and a first-rate audiovisual section”.
