Amnesia: The Bunker a new survival horror set in World War I will release in 2023

The new game in the Amnesia series (Amnesia: The Bunker) takes us to a gloomy bunker as a French soldier. It will be more open, demanding and creative. It will arrive in 2023 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

The Amnesia series will have a new game in 2023. This has been announced by the Frictional Games studio, responsible for this license and the acclaimed SOMA, in a new press release accompanied by the first details of the game and its first teaser, which already includes a few seconds of gameplay. This new installment will be called Amnesia: The Bunker and is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation, Xbox (which generation of consoles is not specified) and PC sometime next year.

Amnesia: The Bunker promises to move away from the previous installments of the saga offering a new style of survival horror with touches of “emergent gameplay” and “sandbox”. This playable premise will take place in a gloomy bunker during the First World War, a semi-open space that we can freely explore as an amnesiac French soldier who is chased by a mysterious creature. Under these lines you can see the first trailer of the game.

A more open, demanding and creative Amnesia

Already in the first trailer we can sense some of the keys to Amnesia: The Bunker. That semi-open world they talk about seems to be the bunker itself, which we can explore with enough freedom of movement. Our equipment will be very limited , including a low ammunition revolver and a dynamo flashlight, whose noise seems to be key in the gameplay: activating it could attract the attention of the creature that is chasing us, for example.

In the press release in which Frictional Games has announced the new Amnesia, it is said that this game will test the intelligence, courage and ability of the players to keep a cool head in pressure situations in order to make decisions quick to solve problems. In addition, the studio ensures that each objective, puzzle and task has multiple possible solutions , so it seems that the game design is going to focus on letting the player have great decision-making power. Finally, emphasis is also placed on creative gameplay that emerges from the tools and objects that we can use as we please to survive.
